Stockholm Climate Arena builds circularly to strengthen the circular economy

In this project, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute is collaborating with several actors active in the Stockholm region to strengthen and accelerate circular urban planning and circular construction.

By analysing ongoing and upcoming construction projects, the project aims to develop and promote circular construction - from the organisation itself, through urban planning, to the physical construction projects.

How can construction and property actors learn from each other? What are the successful examples to take forward? Are there recurring pitfalls and knowledge gaps? The project aims to investigate and analyse these and many more issues through collaboration and knowledge sharing to develop and scale up the circular construction process.

From ideas to realisation

A working process on how to work circularly will be developed during the project, which will be tested and developed by the project partners. The hope is that the result will be a straightforward, step-by-step work process well anchored in how municipalities, construction, and property operators work and that responds to and follows the industry's projects, from idea to realisation.

IVL is leading the project with Region Stockholm, the Stockholm County Administrative Board, White Arkitekter and Sustainable Innovation. The project is based in the Stockholm region, where the City of Stockholm, Arlandastad Group, Sollentuna and Järfälla municipalities are also involved as project partners, along with a broad representation of industry players from Castellum, Fabege, Nrep, PEAB and Skanska.
