Industrial symbiosis in biogas systems

To capture the full value of biogas and develop the full potential of the biogas market, the biogas system needs to be developed to involve more industrial actors and other organizations. This project, therefore, studies drivers and barriers to the development of industrial symbiosis in the biogas context..

The production and use of biogas are circular systems that can contribute to both energy supply and climate change mitigation. However, industrial actors and other organizations need to be involved for the biogas market to reach its full potential.

In this project, we will work collaboratively to map the drivers and barriers for industrial symbiosis in the biogas field and identify appropriate forms of cooperation between different stakeholders. The aim is to identify actors, their roles and possible interactions within the industrial symbiosis system. We will include business partners from different parts of the value chain who are committed to developing the biogas market, sustainable business models and industrial symbiosis.

A framework for practice-based business development and stakeholder collaboration will be developed, leading to more circular solutions in society and increased use of biogas as a substitute for natural gas.
