Exploring China’s sustainability developments
Welcome to our Chinese newsletter, which in its first version highlights innovation, development, and sustainability regarding vehicles, batteries, and biodiversity in China. Additionally, we are pleased to share an interview with Mats Haborn, who shares his insights on innovation trends, EU-China cooperation, and Scania’s upcoming priorities in the country.
This newsletter is a test version funded by the China working group of Intsam (the Coordination and Collaboration Platform for International Cooperation among Sweden’s Public Research and Innovation Funding Agencies). The China working group is led by Vinnova and includes representatives from the Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Energy Agency, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and STINT (Association for Internationalization of Higher Education and Research).
Purpose of this newsletter
The purpose of this test version is to explore the format and content for monitoring China’s development in research and innovation related to sustainability. This is highly relevant for Sweden, as well as for development in a European and global context. The goal is for the newsletter to support strategic monitoring and understanding of China’s development for the members of the China WG, such as Vinnova, the Swedish Energy Agency, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and the broader research and innovation ecosystems.
IVL’s China Office has designed and compiled the content for this test version, focusing on areas identified by the China WG. These areas include research, innovation, and policy development in the fields of climate and energy system transition, transport and mobility, sustainable urban development, circular economy, biodiversity, and resource efficiency.
