Rare Earth Metals & E-waste: Economic, Social & Environmental Perspectives

Every year about 50 million tonnes of electronic waste is thrown away, and with that, large amounts of valuable metals disappear. In this seminar, IVL will present about rare earth metals in electronic products and e-waste management – the complexities, economic significance, environmental impacts and opportunities.

  • What quantities of e-waste are produced in Sweden and globally?
  • Which products have the greatest environmental impact?
  • How many materials are there in your smartphone and how many of these are classified as critical materials?
  • We will also discuss if there is a relation between electronics and extinction of mountain gorillas in Africa?

Join this seminar to learn more about e-waste and what actions can you take as consumers.
