–The importance and leverage of Clean Shipping Index is increasing, and we are happy to welcome ABS onboard as verifier of Clean Shipping Index, says Sara Sköld, project manager of Clean Shipping Index and expert at IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute.
About Clean Shipping Index
Clean Shipping Index is an independent and holistic labelling system of vessels' environmental performance; a practical tool for differentiating port- and fairway fees or choosing more sustainable shipping alternatives. CSI provides key players on the maritime supply chain with the information they need to make environmentally responsible decisions. Vessels are registered by the carrier in the database through filling out the questionnaire ("self-assessment") which is free of charge. After the vessels have received a CSI Class, vessels need to be verified by third party to access benefits such as reduced fairway dues in Sweden or reduced port fees in different countries.
