Net zero emissions with Mistra Carbon Exit

The interdisciplinary research programme Mistra Carbon Exit addresses the tough goal of zero net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2045. The programme has analysed and identified the technical, economic and political challenges that Sweden faces and proposes how Swedish industry can adapt to meet this goal.

Mistra Carbon Exit worked with cross-sectoral analyses of supply chains, from raw materials, through primary and secondary activities, to end products and services. The programme focused on the supply chains for buildings, transport and transport infrastructure. Together, these account for at least 75 per cent of Sweden's total carbon dioxide emissions.

IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute led the program together with Chalmers and formed a strong consortium with many other universities, colleges, industries, and organisations.

The programme ended in the spring of 2025.
