Unique competence with a heavy research portfolio
IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute is a key player in national and international air pollution issues. Over the years, we have built up a unique competence that extends from emissions and the spread of air pollutants to environmental effects and action strategies.
We have a long commitment to the UN Air Convention and a heavy portfolio of international and interdisciplinary research projects.
We measure different sources and diffuse emissions
We measure a wide range of air pollutants from sources such as industries and ship plumes to emissions from road traffic and aviation, as well as the indoor environment and passive contaminations, and produce grounds for the measures taken.
Reducing both air pollution and greenhouse gases
The major challenge ahead will be to further reduce air pollutants and at the same time make a significant dent in greenhouse gas emissions. Our goal is to help ensure that decisions and priorities in these areas rest on a good scientific basis and are able to create the conditions required for effective action.
