A new Sweden-China Business Match making platform for Swedish green tech businesses

Smart City Sweden Export and Investment Platform, led by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, is establishing an innovation partnership together with Chinese Winnoc Sino-Europe World Innovation Centre, through its Swedish branch Winnoc AB. June 26th a Letter of Intent was signed between the parties to create a Sweden-China Business Match making platform.

The signing was held at an Innovation Forum arranged in Beijing during the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven’s visit to China to meet President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang, accompanied by several Ministers and a large business delegation.

The mission of the Match making platform is to enable Swedish SME:s scaling up their businesses on the Chinese market, with tailormade support packages and joint venture investments of WINNOC. Smart City Sweden and WINNOC will match public driven demand in sustainable urban development with state-of the art tech solutions, reaching first customers business deals and promoting Swedish smart city solutions to Chinese city planners.

The common driving force behind this initiative is the strong incentives for regional and national governments to deliver on the UN sustainable development goals (SDG) and the Paris climate agreement.

Smart City Sweden is a national export and investment platform for Swedish green tech businesses. It is led by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, supported by the Swedish Government’s export strategy and funded by Government through the Swedish Energy Agency. The recently inaugurated Smart City Sweden Centre is located in Hammarby Sjöstad, a Swedish demo city and “an urban living lab” for innovation in sustainable city development, attracting visitors from all over the world. Smart City Sweden represents the Swedish clean tech business sector as well as attractive smart city demo sites all over Sweden.

WINNOC Sino-Europe World Innovation Centre is a high-tech industry accelerator in the city of Nanjing in the Jiangsu Province. WINNOC aims to contribute to the development of sustainable prosperous societies in a global perspective by matching European innovation capacity with Chinese investments.
